Welcome to a Century of Stories -

Hobart is Australia’s second oldest city boasting a rich maritime history. The Derwent River provides Hobart with one of Australia’s finest naturally occurring deepwater ports and was the centre of the Southern Ocean whaling and seal trade in the late 1800’s. Allied industries such as shipbuilding saw Hobart grow into a major port.

Exports of the State’s natural resources such as apples, pears and timber, and processed materials such as zinc and paper saw sustained growth of Hobart’s port facilities long after the whaling and seal trade ceased to exist.

Hobart was also the central passenger and freight transport hub servicing the South-East of Tasmania and Hobart’s Eastern Shore before major road and bridge infrastructure was developed.

Now its time to make your own exploration of our wonderful home.
But dont tell anybody about our secret place>
